Finding the Perfect Message for a ‘Going Off to College’ Card
Going off to college – it is an experience that most people will never forget. When our friends and family members enter high school, we would sometimes think about them eventually going off to college, but we figured that the college experience is still a long four years away and that day will take forever to arrive. At times, it seems as though it is a day that will never arrive.
How to Create the Perfect Card - Examples
And then, all of a sudden, four years fly by and the day that we thought would never come is finally here – our friend, our son, our daughter – their acceptance letters start coming in the mail and our friends and family members are faced with the tough decision of choosing which school they wish to attend in the Fall. Finally, they decide which school they would like to attend … and the waterworks begin…
Now, your close friend or family member is suddenly moving away to go to college. What do you say to them? How do you wish them luck? How do you let them know that you’ll be thinking about them as they transition into adulthood?
If these questions have crossed your mind, don’t worry, we have some example messages that you can send their way before they move into their new educational home.
For a College Bound Student That’s Your Friend
Nothing can please a college bound student more than a pleasant message from a well wisher. Here are some kind messages that you can send their way:
- (for a male friend) “Good luck as you go off to college dude! Wishing you lots of success as you begin your new journey!”
- (for a female friend) “Miss you like crazy already, but I hope that you’ll have a great time! Xoxo It won’t be the same around here without you being around. With that said, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am so proud of you and I hope that you enjoy every new and different day!”
- (for a friend who likes poetry) “If you don’t dream big, what’s the use of dreaming? If you don’t have faith, why even try? You only have to look at the stars always gleaming, to know you were meant to reach for the sky. Congrats, my friend. And good luck.”
- (for a friend who likes poetry) “It only takes a hope that is worth believing, live like it’s here and know it to be true. Leave your heart open to the prospect of receiving, and everything you dream of will soon come to you. Now that you’ve graduated, remember to always dream BIG!”
Humorous College Cards
Sometimes, when something is hard to grasp emotionally, we will find the humor in the situation to help ease the emotions. Here are some humorous going away cards that a college bound student may enjoy.
- (for a female) “College or bust, eh?! You better not getting anything lower than a C … okay, maybe a D. We’ll negotiate after your first college party. Good luck and congrats!”
- (for a son or daughter) “Now that you’re leaving, I’m converting your room into my man cave to watch the games. Have fun in college. Love, dad.”
- (for a younger sibling) “Please don’t drink as much as I did in college. You’ll regret it. Love you and I am VERY proud of you!”
